The Berkshire Eagle is among the oldest periodicals in the country, tracing its origins back to the Western Star, a weekly newspaper founded in 1789. In 1973, one of the Eagle’s editors, Roger Linscott, was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for his editorial writing, and over the years has won numerous awards from New England press associations and the Associated Press. Under its new ownership, the Eagle continually strives to improve the quality of news and features, and to sustain the highest level of excellence in local journalism in this leading community newspaper.
