When the Berkshire Eagle was claimed by local owners in 2016, it became part of the investor mission to turn the local newspaper into a “city square.” The Eagle’s Conversation Series — routine public events with experts discussing a variety of topics — is a new initiative to reach that goal. The Conversation Series brings together intriguing speakers with inquisitive audiences to explore crucial topics of our time.

The Berkshire Eagle is planning to give out 1,000 backpacks to children in need this upcoming school season. Supplies are limited so pre-registration is requested. In addition to the giveaways, there will be free haircuts, face painting for the kids and financial tips for Mom and Dad, health check-ups, Stay Safe Live Safe talk by local law enforcement, social media safety training.
